The Technology

Formtexx has an unparalleled knowledge of three dimensional design and double curvature metal forming that has been gained through more than 50 years experience in the production of body components for the automotive industry. Unique technological advances in software and manufacturing are continually being investigated and introduced whenever appropriate.

Using specially developed ‘modelling with feasibility’ CAD software, Formtexx is able to turn conceptual drawings into ready-for-manufacture designs applicable to any project’s budgetary constraint. Finite element analysis and forming simulation compensate for material springback to ensure true metal formation without cosmetic defects and achieve automotive industry levels of accuracy.

Differing manufacturing methodologies have been developed and are being implemented by Formtexx depending on the needs of each project. The company operate a fit-for-purpose manufacturing route where the ideal is dictated by factors which include material choice, curvature form, panel size and quantity required.

Formtexx can offer solutions in most common metals with thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm to 10.0mm, panel sizes up to 4m x 2m and quantities from 1 to 100,000 and is able to achieve the most extreme double curvatures.

The company also use non-impact forming methods and so customers can specify pre-coated or pre-polished materials in the knowledge that the formed surfaces will be blemish-free. Full 5-axis laser cutting facilities are available for cut lines, perforations or bespoke-cut patterns and features.

Formtexx’s innovative technological solutions allow architects and façade contractors to offer their clients perfect double curvature freeform panels at a fraction of previously known prices.
